About Korean Red Ginseng.
History of Ginseng
Control over ginseng fields in China and Korea became an issue in the 16th century.
By the 1900s, due to the demand for ginseng having outstripped the available wild supply,
Korea began the commercial cultivation of ginseng which continues to this day. In 2010,
nearly all of the world's 80,000 tons of ginseng in international commerce was produced in four countries:
China, South Korea, Canada, and the United States.
Commercial ginseng is sold in over 35 countries with sales exceeded $2.1 billion, of which half came from South Korea.
China has historically been the largest consumer for ginseng.
Why Korean Ginseng
The growing environment is very important for ginseng to produce healthy components such as Ginsenoside.
Since Korea is the naturally evolved growing environment of ginseng, Korea's geographical latitude,
4 distinct seasons, and the very specific soil conditions on the Pacific peninsula of Korea
allow Korean ginseng to produce more than twice the variety of these healthy components.
Korean ginseng is grown in the ideal climate for ginseng cultivation, the peninsula of Korea,
under strict quality controls. For these reasons, it is praised as the highest quality ginseng in the world,
in terms of efficacy and, both, quantity and variety of active components.
Although there are other species of ginseng, such as American ginseng, Japanese ginseng, or Siberian ginseng,
and while cousins of Korean ginseng exist, including Chinese and Asian Panax ginseng,
Korean Ginseng is known as the 'King of Herbs' and can be sharply contrasted with other ginseng species.
Korean ginseng boasts more than 30 varieties of healthy plant saponins (and ginsenosides found only in Korean ginseng),
while American and Chinese ginseng has only 14 and 15 varieties.
